Location:
An International Planning Competition was organised to prepare a master plan for a large site adjacent to the ancient walled City of Nicosia. The 15 hectare site was located on the major entrance route to the city and was a particularly sensitive and historic area.

Design Solution:
The competition site was located in an area of fragmented and ill defined urban structure and the design objective was create a range of varied and well defined urban spaces. The new quarter would subsequently be linked to the old walled City and other focal points by attractive and well defined routes.

Rigid planning and functional separation was avoided in order to bring activity and life to all areas of the development.

The partnership in association with J+A Philippou were selected as joint winners.
